Jane and Max
The lovely Jane and Max celebrated their intimate wedding celebrations at Pennyhill Park this April.

How did you meet and how did the proposal happen?
We met in Guernsey through mutual friends. Max had moved there in 2020, but did not meet Jane until 2021, who had been there since 2017. When Jane departed Guernsey in 2022, Max followed quickly, both moving in together quickly. The proposal came in the Summer of 2024 in Crete, Max proposing to Jane on their way to dinner.v
What did you love most about Pennyhill Park?
They made our wedding exactly what we wanted. It was not a ‘traditional’ wedding, but they were incredibly receptive to any requests we had, both in advance of and on the day!
The venue is gorgeous, as or guests noted. If in doubt, hit the spa or walk the grounds! The venue works in all seasons for all occasions, and we’ll be returning soon.
Did you have a theme or style in mind for your big day?
It was an intimate wedding, consisting of family and some close friends. As a result, we used the ceremony room for the wedding breakfast as well.
The Pennyhill Park team were very helpful in adapting both rooms to the designs we had throughout the day. We had no theme but had a type of colour scheme, matching the outer or inner lining of the groom’s suit. We utilized a wedding website to coordinate with our guests in advance of the day, and included a FAQ page to address any uncertainties.
Tell us about the outfits.
Jane wore a lace figure-hugging dress which made everybody cry! Max wore a three piece blue suit, and was very excited by the rare opportunity to wear a waistcoat. Ditto for the best man!
What do you remember most about the day?
It went very quickly, but smoothly! The ceremony was efficient but still wonderful (and emotional!). It was a lovely space, serving our needs perfectly. Pennyhill Park worked seamlessly with our decorators to design the room to our needs.
The drinks reception was a favourite of ours, giving us some down time with guests while enjoying the delicious canapes. Guests all complimented the food throughout the day, and rightly so! It was delicious!
Were there any special moments or surprises?
The champagne tower was a personal favourite. Great in concept, not so much in execution! But it gave us all a good laugh when the champagne missed most of the glasses.
The bride unfortunately mispronounced the groom’s middle name and was made by the registrars to repeat it. Fortunately the groom has only ever mentioned his middle name to her once or twice, so there were no hard feelings!
What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
Spend some time understanding what it is you really want! It’s very easy to be overfaced by everything and listen to external parties, when you should be listening to yourself and your partner!
If in doubt, ask for advice from the venue, they’ve seen it all, and their aim is to give you what you want, not what they think you should have!
